A Step-by-Step Guide on Exporting GSC Performance Data for a Specific List of URLs with the Help of Google Search Console API, Analytics Edge, and Excel

Google Search Console (GSC) is a powerful tool that provides valuable insights into how your website performs in Google search results. It allows you to monitor your website’s visibility, track keyword rankings, and analyze click-through rates (CTR) for specific pages. However, exporting performance data for a large number of URLs can be time-consuming and tedious. In this article, we will guide you through the process of exporting GSC performance data for a specific list of URLs using the Google Search Console API, Analytics Edge, and Excel.

Step 1: Set up Google Search Console API

To begin, you need to set up the Google Search Console API. Go to the Google Developers Console (https://console.developers.google.com/) and create a new project. Enable the Search Console API for your project by navigating to the “APIs & Services” section and selecting “Library.” Search for “Search Console API” and enable it.

Step 2: Create API credentials

Next, you need to create API credentials to access the Search Console API. In the Google Developers Console, go to the “APIs & Services” section and select “Credentials.” Click on “Create Credentials” and choose “OAuth client ID.” Select “Desktop app” as the application type and give it a name. Once created, note down the client ID and client secret.

Analytics Edge is an Excel add-in that allows you to connect to various data sources, including the Google Search Console API. Download and install Analytics Edge from their website (https://www.analyticsedge.com/). Once installed, open Excel and you will find an Analytics Edge tab.

Step 4: Connect Analytics Edge to Google Search Console API

In Excel, click on the Analytics Edge tab and select “Accounts.” Click on the “Add” button and choose “Google Search Console.” Enter a name for your account and click on “Connect.” A browser window will open, prompting you to sign in with your Google account. After signing in, grant access to Analytics Edge to manage your Search Console data.

Step 5: Configure the Search Console Query

In the Analytics Edge tab, click on “Queries” and select “Google Search Console.” Choose the account you created in Step 4. In the Query Wizard, select the dimensions and metrics you want to export. For example, you can choose “Page” as the dimension and “Clicks” and “CTR” as metrics. Click on “Next” and specify any filters or date ranges you want to apply. Finally, click on “Finish” to create the query.

Step 6: Export the Data to Excel

In the Analytics Edge tab, click on “Refresh All” to execute the query and retrieve the data from Google Search Console. The data will be displayed in a new worksheet in Excel. You can now manipulate and analyze the data as needed.

Step 7: Filter the Data for Specific URLs

To filter the data for a specific list of URLs, create a new column in Excel and enter the URLs you want to filter. Use Excel’s built-in filtering capabilities to display only the rows that match your list of URLs.

Step 8: Analyze and Visualize the Data

With the filtered data, you can now analyze and visualize the performance of your specific URLs. Use Excel’s formulas, charts, and pivot tables to gain insights into click-through rates, keyword rankings, and other performance metrics.

By following this step-by-step guide, you can efficiently export GSC performance data for a specific list of URLs using the Google Search Console API, Analytics Edge, and Excel. This process saves time and allows you to gain valuable insights into your website’s performance in Google search results.
