Analysis of $18 Billion in SaaS M&A During the Banking Crisis: Qualtrics, Cvent, and Momentive.

The banking crisis of 2008-2009 had a major impact on the global economy. It caused a sharp decline in consumer spending, business investment, and employment. As a result, many companies had to make drastic changes to their operations in order to survive. One of the most notable changes was the increase in mergers and acquisitions (M&A) activity. During this period, the software-as-a-service (SaaS) sector saw an unprecedented amount of M&A activity, with over $18 billion in deals being completed.

Three of the most notable SaaS M&A deals during this period were Qualtrics, Cvent, and Momentive. Qualtrics was acquired by SAP in a $8 billion deal in November 2008. This acquisition allowed SAP to gain access to Qualtrics’ customer experience management platform and expand its portfolio of cloud-based solutions. Cvent was acquired by Vista Equity Partners for $1.65 billion in April 2009. This acquisition allowed Vista Equity Partners to gain access to Cvent’s event management software and expand its portfolio of cloud-based solutions. Finally, Momentive was acquired by Apollo Global Management for $3.8 billion in June 2009. This acquisition allowed Apollo Global Management to gain access to Momentive’s enterprise resource planning software and expand its portfolio of cloud-based solutions.

These three acquisitions demonstrate the importance of SaaS M&A during the banking crisis. By acquiring these companies, the acquirers were able to gain access to valuable cloud-based solutions that could help them remain competitive in a difficult economic environment. Furthermore, these acquisitions allowed the acquirers to expand their portfolios of cloud-based solutions and position themselves for future growth.

In conclusion, the banking crisis of 2008-2009 had a major impact on the global economy. During this period, there was an unprecedented amount of SaaS M&A activity, with over $18 billion in deals being completed. Three of the most notable SaaS M&A deals during this period were Qualtrics, Cvent, and Momentive.
