Blue Origin is set to resume New Shepard flights in a matter of weeks.

Blue Origin, the space exploration company founded by Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos, is set to resume its New Shepard flights in a matter of weeks. The company has been on a hiatus since December 2019, when it completed its 12th successful mission.

The New Shepard is a reusable suborbital rocket system designed to take passengers and payloads to the edge of space. It consists of a rocket booster and a crew capsule, which can carry up to six passengers. The rocket booster is designed to land vertically, while the crew capsule is equipped with parachutes for a safe landing.

Blue Origin has been testing the New Shepard system since 2015, with a total of 12 successful missions to date. The company has also conducted several tests of the crew capsule’s emergency escape system, which can quickly separate from the rocket booster in case of an emergency.

The upcoming New Shepard flight will be the first since December 2019, and Blue Origin has not yet announced the exact date. However, the company has stated that it will be carrying several payloads on behalf of NASA, as well as conducting tests of new technologies.

One of the payloads on the upcoming flight is a lunar landing sensor demonstration, which will test a new technology designed to help spacecraft land safely on the moon. Blue Origin has been working with NASA on its Artemis program, which aims to send humans back to the moon by 2024.

Blue Origin has also been developing a larger rocket system called New Glenn, which is designed to compete with SpaceX’s Falcon 9 and Falcon Heavy rockets. The New Glenn is expected to make its first flight in 2021.

In addition to its space exploration efforts, Blue Origin has also been working on a variety of other projects, including a partnership with United Launch Alliance to develop a new rocket engine called BE-4. The company has also been working on a project called Project Kuiper, which aims to provide high-speed internet access to underserved communities around the world using a network of satellites.

Overall, Blue Origin’s upcoming New Shepard flight is an exciting development for the company and the space exploration industry as a whole. With its focus on reusable rocket systems and partnerships with NASA, Blue Origin is poised to make significant contributions to the future of space exploration.
