China defends Pakistan after Jaishankar’s call to vacate PoK, urges resolution in accordance with UN resolutions.

China has come out in defense of Pakistan after India’s External Affairs Minister, S Jaishankar, called for the vacation of Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). China has urged both India and Pakistan to resolve the issue in accordance with the United Nations resolutions.

The dispute over Kashmir has been a long-standing issue between India and Pakistan. Both countries claim the region as their own, and it has been a source of tension between them for decades. The situation escalated in August 2019 when India revoked the special status of Jammu and Kashmir, which had given it a degree of autonomy. Pakistan responded by downgrading diplomatic ties with India and suspending trade.

In his recent statement, Jaishankar called for the vacation of PoK, which is currently under Pakistani control. He also criticized China for its involvement in the region, saying that it was “untenable” for Beijing to interfere in India’s internal affairs.

China’s response to Jaishankar’s statement was measured but firm. The Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson, Hua Chunying, said that China’s position on the Kashmir issue was “consistent and clear.” She added that China hoped that India and Pakistan would resolve the issue through dialogue and consultation, in accordance with the UN Charter, relevant Security Council resolutions, and bilateral agreements.

China’s stance on the Kashmir issue is not surprising. China has long been an ally of Pakistan and has provided it with economic and military support. China has also invested heavily in infrastructure projects in Pakistan as part of its Belt and Road Initiative.

India’s stance on the Kashmir issue is equally firm. India maintains that Jammu and Kashmir is an integral part of its territory and that Pakistan has no right to claim it. India has also accused Pakistan of supporting terrorist groups that operate in the region.

The Kashmir issue is a complex one, and there are no easy solutions. Both India and Pakistan have legitimate claims to the region, and any resolution will require compromise and negotiation. The involvement of China further complicates the issue, as it has its own interests in the region.

In conclusion, China’s defense of Pakistan after Jaishankar’s call to vacate PoK is not surprising given its long-standing alliance with Pakistan. However, China has also urged both India and Pakistan to resolve the issue through dialogue and consultation, in accordance with the UN resolutions. The Kashmir issue is a complex one, and any resolution will require compromise and negotiation from all parties involved.
