Cybereason, a cybersecurity company based in Boston, has recently raised $100 million in a funding round led by SoftBank Group Corp. This brings the company’s total funding to $350 million and values it at over $1 billion, making it a “cyber unicorn” company.
The funding will be used to further develop Cybereason’s platform, which uses artificial intelligence and machine learning to detect and respond to cyber threats in real-time. The company’s technology is used by organizations around the world to protect against advanced cyber attacks, including ransomware, malware, and phishing.
In addition to the funding news, Cybereason also announced the appointment of a new CEO, Lior Div. Div co-founded the company in 2012 and previously served as its Chief Product Officer. He will now take over as CEO from co-founder Yossi Naar, who will become the company’s Chief Visionary Officer.
Div has a background in cybersecurity, having served in the Israeli Defense Forces’ elite intelligence unit. He has also worked for several cybersecurity companies, including RSA Security and Amdocs.
In a statement, Div said he was “honored and excited” to take on the role of CEO. He added that he plans to continue building on the company’s success and expanding its reach.
Cybereason’s success comes at a time when cyber threats are becoming increasingly sophisticated and prevalent. According to a report by Cybersecurity Ventures, global cybercrime damages are expected to reach $6 trillion annually by 2021.
As organizations look for ways to protect themselves against these threats, cybersecurity companies like Cybereason are in high demand. The company’s technology has already been adopted by a number of high-profile organizations, including the U.S. military and several Fortune 500 companies.
With its new funding and leadership, Cybereason is well-positioned to continue leading the charge in the fight against cyber threats. As Div said in his statement, “We’re just getting started.”
