DOE Invites Applications for $12M Quantum Testbed Funding Opportunity

The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) recently announced a $12 million funding opportunity for the development of a quantum testbed. This funding opportunity is part of the DOE’s larger Quantum Information Science (QIS) program, which seeks to advance the development of quantum computing and other quantum information technologies.

The goal of the quantum testbed funding opportunity is to create a platform that will enable researchers to develop and test new quantum computing algorithms, architectures, and hardware. The testbed will be used to explore the potential of quantum computing and other quantum information technologies, and to develop new applications for these technologies. The testbed will also provide a platform for researchers to collaborate on research projects and share their findings.

The DOE is looking for applicants who have experience in developing and operating quantum computing systems. The applicants should have experience in developing hardware, software, and algorithms for quantum computing systems. They should also have experience in developing applications for quantum computing systems. Additionally, applicants should have experience in developing and operating testbeds for quantum computing systems.

The funding opportunity is open to both academic and industry applicants. Academic applicants must be affiliated with an accredited university or college in the United States. Industry applicants must be based in the United States and have a demonstrated track record in developing and operating quantum computing systems.

The DOE will award up to $12 million in funding for the development of the quantum testbed. The funding will be used to support research activities related to the development of the testbed, including hardware and software development, algorithm development, and application development. The funding will also be used to support the operation of the testbed, including maintenance and upgrades.

This funding opportunity is an excellent opportunity for researchers and industry professionals to develop and test new quantum computing algorithms, architectures, and hardware. It is also an opportunity for researchers to collaborate on research projects and share their findings with the wider scientific community.

The DOE is currently accepting applications for this funding opportunity. Interested applicants should submit their applications by the deadline of April 30th, 2021. For more information about this funding opportunity, please visit the DOE’s website.
