“EMA Research Reveals Challenges Faced in Implementing Cyber Threat Intelligence (CTI)”

The world of cybersecurity is constantly evolving, and organizations are always looking for ways to stay ahead of the curve. One of the most effective ways to do this is by implementing Cyber Threat Intelligence (CTI). CTI is the process of collecting, analyzing, and sharing information about potential cyber threats in order to prevent or mitigate attacks. However, a recent study by Enterprise Management Associates (EMA) has revealed that there are several challenges faced by organizations when it comes to implementing CTI.

The EMA study surveyed over 200 IT and security professionals from various industries, including healthcare, finance, and government. The results showed that the biggest challenge faced by organizations when it comes to CTI is the lack of skilled personnel. According to the survey, 60% of respondents said that they struggle to find qualified personnel to manage their CTI programs. This is a significant issue, as CTI requires a high level of expertise in areas such as threat analysis, data collection, and intelligence sharing.

Another challenge highlighted by the EMA study is the lack of integration between different security tools. Many organizations use multiple security tools to protect their networks, but these tools often operate in silos, making it difficult to share information and coordinate responses to threats. The survey found that 56% of respondents struggle with integrating their CTI programs with other security tools.

The EMA study also revealed that many organizations struggle with the sheer volume of data generated by their CTI programs. CTI involves collecting and analyzing vast amounts of data from a variety of sources, including social media, dark web forums, and threat intelligence feeds. This can be overwhelming for organizations that lack the resources to manage and analyze this data effectively. According to the survey, 52% of respondents said that they struggle with managing the volume of data generated by their CTI programs.

Finally, the EMA study found that many organizations struggle with the cost of implementing CTI. CTI requires significant investment in terms of personnel, technology, and training. According to the survey, 48% of respondents said that they struggle with the cost of implementing CTI.

Despite these challenges, CTI remains an essential tool for organizations looking to protect themselves from cyber threats. To overcome these challenges, organizations need to invest in skilled personnel, integrate their security tools, and develop effective strategies for managing the volume of data generated by their CTI programs. They also need to be prepared to invest in the resources required to implement CTI effectively. By doing so, organizations can stay ahead of the curve and protect themselves from the ever-evolving threat landscape.
