EuroHPC JU Releases Quantum Hosting Call for High-Performance Computing

The European High-Performance Computing Joint Undertaking (EuroHPC JU) has recently announced the release of a call for proposals for Quantum Hosting in the field of high-performance computing (HPC). This initiative aims to accelerate the development and deployment of quantum computing technologies in Europe.

Quantum computing has emerged as a promising field that has the potential to revolutionize various industries by solving complex problems that are currently beyond the capabilities of classical computers. It utilizes the principles of quantum mechanics to perform computations using quantum bits, or qubits, which can exist in multiple states simultaneously, enabling parallel processing and exponential computational power.

The EuroHPC JU, established in 2018, is a joint effort between the European Union and 32 participating countries to enhance Europe’s competitiveness in the field of HPC. It aims to develop and deploy world-class supercomputers and foster collaboration among researchers, industry, and academia.

The Quantum Hosting call is part of EuroHPC JU’s efforts to support the development of quantum computing technologies in Europe. It invites proposals from organizations interested in hosting quantum computing systems that can be accessed by researchers and industry partners across Europe. The selected hosting sites will receive funding from EuroHPC JU to establish and operate these quantum computing infrastructures.

The call is open to both public and private entities, including research institutions, universities, and industrial partners. The proposed hosting sites should have the necessary expertise, infrastructure, and resources to support the operation of quantum computing systems. They should also demonstrate a commitment to fostering collaboration and knowledge exchange within the European quantum computing community.

The deadline for submitting proposals for the Quantum Hosting call is set for October 14, 2021. EuroHPC JU’s investment in quantum computing infrastructure will pave the way for groundbreaking discoveries and innovations, positioning Europe at the forefront of the quantum revolution.
