Finalists from Kiwi companies in an international clean energy programme announced

The New Zealand government has announced the finalists from Kiwi companies in an international clean energy programme. The programme, called the Energy Excelerator, is a global accelerator programme that supports innovative clean energy start-ups. The programme is based in Hawaii and is funded by the US Department of Energy.

The Energy Excelerator programme aims to help start-ups develop and commercialise their clean energy technologies. The programme provides funding, mentorship, and access to a network of industry experts and investors. The programme also helps start-ups to navigate regulatory and policy challenges.

This year, four Kiwi companies have been selected as finalists in the Energy Excelerator programme. The companies are:

1. CarbonScape: CarbonScape is a company that has developed a technology that converts waste biomass into high-value carbon products. The company’s technology can be used to produce activated carbon, biochar, and other carbon-based products.

2. Ecotricity: Ecotricity is a company that provides renewable energy solutions for businesses and households. The company’s solutions include solar power, wind power, and energy storage.

3. Emrod: Emrod is a company that has developed a wireless power transmission technology. The company’s technology can transmit power over long distances without the need for cables or wires.

4. Mint Innovation: Mint Innovation is a company that has developed a technology that recovers valuable metals from electronic waste. The company’s technology can recover metals such as gold, silver, and copper from electronic waste.

The Energy Excelerator programme has helped many start-ups to develop and commercialise their clean energy technologies. The programme has supported over 70 start-ups since its inception in 2013. These start-ups have raised over $500 million in funding and have created over 1,500 jobs.

New Zealand has a strong clean energy sector, with many innovative companies developing new technologies to address climate change. The government has set a target of 100% renewable electricity generation by 2030. The Energy Excelerator programme provides an opportunity for Kiwi companies to showcase their technologies on the global stage and to access funding and expertise to help them grow.

In conclusion, the Energy Excelerator programme is an important initiative that supports clean energy start-ups around the world. The selection of four Kiwi companies as finalists in this year’s programme is a testament to the strength of New Zealand’s clean energy sector. These companies have the potential to make a significant contribution to the global effort to address climate change.
