NASA’s Psyche asteroid mission, valued at $1.2bn, takes off

In a groundbreaking endeavor, NASA’s highly anticipated Psyche asteroid mission has finally taken off. This ambitious project, valued at $1.2 billion, aims to explore a unique metallic asteroid named Psyche, located in the asteroid belt between Mars and Jupiter. The mission is expected to provide valuable insights into the formation of our solar system and shed light on the mysteries surrounding the Earth’s core.

The Psyche asteroid, named after the Greek goddess of the soul, is a fascinating celestial body. Unlike most asteroids composed of rock or ice, Psyche is primarily made up of metal, specifically iron and nickel. Scientists believe that it could be the exposed core of a protoplanet that lost its outer layers due to violent collisions billions of years ago.
