The future of Bayonetta is uncertain after the announcement of Bayonetta Origins, a collaboration between Nintendo and PlatinumGames. The game, which was announced at the Nintendo Direct Mini: Partner Showcase on July 20th, 2020, is a remastered version of the original Bayonetta game released in 2009. The game will feature improved graphics, new costumes, and a two-player co-op mode.
Despite the announcement of Bayonetta Origins, the future of the series remains unclear. In an interview with IGN Japan, Nintendo’s Shinya Takahashi and PlatinumGames’ Atsushi Inaba discussed the future of Bayonetta and the possibility of a sequel. Takahashi stated that the team is “not currently working on a sequel” and that “it’s not something we can say for certain at this time.” Inaba echoed this sentiment, stating that “we don’t have any plans for a sequel at this time.”
The lack of plans for a sequel does not mean that the series is finished. Takahashi and Inaba both expressed their enthusiasm for the series and their desire to continue working on it. Takahashi stated that “we would like to continue to work on the series if there is an opportunity to do so.” Inaba added that “we would love to make more Bayonetta games if we have the chance.”
The future of Bayonetta is uncertain, but it is clear that Nintendo and PlatinumGames are passionate about the series and would like to continue working on it. Fans of the series can look forward to Bayonetta Origins, which is set to release on August 13th, 2020. Until then, all we can do is wait and see what the future holds for Bayonetta.
