Prime Minister Modi Completes Enriching Sortie on TEJAS Aircraft

Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently completed a remarkable and enriching sortie on the indigenous Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) TEJAS. This historic event not only showcased India’s technological prowess but also highlighted the government’s commitment to promoting indigenous defense manufacturing.

The sortie took place at the HAL Airport in Bengaluru, where Prime Minister Modi was given the opportunity to experience the capabilities of the TEJAS aircraft firsthand. The TEJAS, developed by the Aeronautical Development Agency (ADA) and manufactured by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL), is a single-engine, multi-role fighter aircraft designed to meet the requirements of the Indian Air Force (IAF).

During his sortie, Prime Minister Modi flew in a two-seater trainer variant of the TEJAS, accompanied by Air Vice Marshal N Tiwari, who is also the Project Director of National Flight Test Centre. The sortie lasted for about 30 minutes, during which the Prime Minister witnessed the aircraft’s agility, maneuverability, and advanced avionics systems.

The successful completion of this sortie is a significant milestone for both the TEJAS program and India’s defense industry as a whole. It demonstrates the progress made in developing indigenous defense capabilities and reducing dependence on foreign imports. The TEJAS is a testament to the country’s technological advancements and its ability to design and manufacture world-class military equipment.

The TEJAS aircraft is equipped with state-of-the-art avionics, including an advanced glass cockpit, digital flight control system, and integrated electronic warfare suite. It also features a fly-by-wire flight control system, which enhances its maneuverability and ensures precise control during high-speed maneuvers. The aircraft’s advanced radar and weapon systems enable it to engage multiple targets simultaneously, making it a formidable asset for the Indian Air Force.

Prime Minister Modi’s sortie on the TEJAS not only highlights his personal interest in India’s defense capabilities but also serves as a morale booster for the scientists, engineers, and technicians involved in the development of the aircraft. It reinforces their hard work and dedication in realizing the dream of an indigenous fighter aircraft.

The TEJAS program has faced numerous challenges and delays over the years, but with the successful completion of this sortie, it is evident that those obstacles have been overcome. The aircraft has already been inducted into the Indian Air Force, with several squadrons operational and more in the pipeline. The government’s focus on promoting indigenous defense manufacturing has played a crucial role in the program’s success.

The TEJAS aircraft not only strengthens India’s defense capabilities but also has significant export potential. Several countries have shown interest in acquiring the aircraft, which could boost India’s defense exports and contribute to its economic growth.

Prime Minister Modi’s sortie on the TEJAS aircraft sends a strong message to the world about India’s determination to become self-reliant in defense manufacturing. It showcases the country’s technological advancements and its ability to develop cutting-edge military equipment. The successful completion of this sortie marks a significant milestone in India’s defense industry and paves the way for further advancements in indigenous defense manufacturing.
