The Tesla Model 3 was the second bestselling model, with sales of 1,072 vehicles. This was followed by the Nissan Leaf (872 vehicles) and the BMW i3 (827 vehicles).
The drop in sales is likely due to a number of factors, including the economic impact of the coronavirus pandemic and the end of the government’s Plug-in Car Grant scheme in March 2021. The grant had provided up to £3,500 towards the cost of a new electric vehicle.
