Wizz Air Sees 97% Increase in Passenger Numbers with 3.8 Million Passengers Carried

in August 2020

The low-cost airline Wizz Air has seen a remarkable increase in passenger numbers in August 2020, with 3.8 million passengers carried. This is a 97% increase compared to the same month last year, when only 1.9 million passengers were carried.

The increase in passenger numbers is largely attributed to the easing of travel restrictions in Europe, as well as the airline’s aggressive expansion plans. Wizz Air has added more than 50 new routes since the start of the pandemic, and has opened new bases in countries such as Romania, Bulgaria, and Hungary.

The airline has also implemented a number of safety measures to ensure the safety of its passengers. These include enhanced cleaning and disinfection procedures, mandatory face masks for all passengers and crew, and contactless check-in.

Despite the increase in passenger numbers, Wizz Air’s revenue has decreased by 65% compared to the same period last year. This is due to the fact that many of the airline’s routes are short-haul, and have been hit hard by the pandemic.

Despite the decrease in revenue, Wizz Air’s CEO József Váradi remains optimistic about the future. He believes that the airline’s aggressive expansion plans will help it to recover from the pandemic, and that it will be able to return to profitability in 2021.

Overall, Wizz Air’s 97% increase in passenger numbers in August 2020 is a positive sign for the airline’s future. With its new safety measures and expansion plans, it looks set to continue to grow in the coming months and years.
